Israel bombs Palestinians & international organizations
The situation has gotten even worse — the far-right Israeli government has now killed over 200 Palestinians, including more than 50 kids. Palestinians have killed at least 12 Israelis.
These numbers vary from one source to another, but no one appears to dispute that more than 10 times as many Palestinians as Israelis have died so far, with Israel bombing entire apartment complexes and even targeting the AP and Al-Jazeera, destroying a building after a one-hour warning for journalists to evacuate, meaning it wasn’t an accident. And the US still will not condemn Israel’s actions.
Another organization whose building suffered damage in the Israeli strikes was Doctors Without Borders, the humanitarian medical relief organization that coincidentally was one of the two recipients of a $25 donation from eclecticmisc.org thanks to your votes in April.
With so much devastation happening, it’s hard to know where to turn to find out what’s actually going on — especially since the US media is still putting a very pro-Israel spin on things despite the facts on the ground— and who you can donate to so you can help.
Two information sources that have helped me keep up with what’s happening, which I found informative both in terms of the current situation on the ground and also deep-dives into the historical context leading up to today’s attacks, have been
Democracy Now reports daily on what’s happening and also has had interviews with journalists on-the-ground and closer looks (a number of reports over the past week and a half), and
This past Saturday’s episode of Weekends by Jacobin with Ana Kasparian and Nando Vila, had a deep dive segment and an extended interview with journalist Amira Hass.
To donate to help the hundreds of Palestinians who need medical attention, Doctors Without Borders is working alongside Palestinian Red Crescent Society. My assumption would be with the damage to one of Doctors Without Borders’s clinics in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (as they refer to it), they will continue to need help.
Let’s hope that increased calls from progressive lawmakers to condemn Israel’s actions, protests in the US and abroad, and pressure from other countries in the UN will finally get the US to formally denounce Israeli war crimes and ongoing apartheid policies, which could be a major turning point in stopping the death, destruction, and devastation of Palestinians who are being attacked by a US-funded nuclear power.
