Hello Nina!
I’m very happy to report that the most votes for March’s $50 donation from eclecticmisc.org went to the one and only Nina Turner! 🎉 I’ve donated $50 to her campaign (receipts, literally, at the end of this post). Thank you to everyone who voted!!
Nina Turner is a woman who needs no introduction (although I know someone — Unprecedented Madness on Twitter — who had the privilege of introducing her at a TYT rally!), but just in case, a quick intro.
Turner has been up and coming in progressive politics for quite a while now: former Cleveland City Councillor, Ohio State Senator, president of Our Revolution, and co-chair of Bernie Sanders’ (or as she calls him, “Bernard Sanders”) 2020 campaign.
She’s currently running for the US House or Representatives in Ohio’s 11th district. She’s arguably the strongest, most inspirational politician currently in progressive politics — more energetic and in-your-face (in a good way) than AOC and Bernie combined, and arguably more to the left than both of them as well. If she wins, this could send huge shockwaves through Washington.
She champions Medicare for All, Green New Deal, Cancel Student Debt…and so many other causes I support. You can find out specifics on her platform here. I’m excited to see how her campaign will turn out!
One last note — the vote was closer this time than the last two months. “Other” won second place, combined. Here are the three “other” ones mentioned by those who voted other. I’m linking to them but haven’t had a chance to “vet” them yet, so feel free to check them out and decide for yourself. They may be featured in a future “getting to know you” blog post here!
CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), and
Hard Lens Media (Chicago).
Doctors Without Borders, Democracy Now, and The Young Turks also received votes.
Since Nina Turner won last month’s poll, her name is taken out of the rotation for April’s poll, which is open now! You can vote for who will get April’s $50 donation from eclecticmisc.org here. Thanks again for visiting the site and to those who voted!
