Polls, polls everywhere!

I’ve started a few Twitter polls recently that I haven’t mentioned the results to yet. Here are five polls (four I started, and one about TYT that was inspired by a comment I made) and quick comments — mostly joking — about them.

The most important, serious poll for my site though is the Survey Monkey poll where you get to help decide what progressive-friendly organization or cause will get June's $50 donation from eclecticmisc.org.

1) Cancel culture has been canceled! It’s either hypocritical, pure genius, or both. Either way, sounds good to me!

2) Pumpkins For All! Poll takers decided once and for all that TYT’s Cenk Uygur’s brutal attacks against year-round partaking of delicious pumpkin pie are misguided at best.

3) Oxford Commas For The Win! People taking the poll overwhelmingly are on #TeamOxfordComma. A clearer world may be possible after all!

4) Eclectic is schooled on Sax solos. I quickly wrote (well, quickly for me — about a half hour) what was supposed to be a silly post jokingly saying that I had the definitive answer to what the best sax solo was ever: Careless Whisper.

It turns out that I don’t know jack about sax solos or famous sax players. People replied to my tweets with ideas or shaking their head at my cluelessness. “Just the Two of Us”, “Still Crazy After All These Years,” “Will You”, Coltrane’s entire career…

As someone from a fairly musical family, I should have known to do my homework before posting that, even if it was mostly a joke. But at least it’s given me new music to explore, and maybe I’ll post a new (jokingly) definitive answer.

5) Team Ana wins over Cenk! This one wasn’t a poll that I started, and it isn’t recent, but it came up when searched Twitter.

I made a comment online during The Young Turks main show, which got read live on air. I said that after founder and main (co)host Cenk came back to TYT after his (not so successful) campaign for Congress, Ana should still be the main host (without the co-) and retain full editorial control of the show.

It was (mostly) a joke. I was surprised they read the comment, and shocked that the official TYT account posted a poll related to it right after the comment was read. And even more surprised at how lopsided the result was (sorry, Cenk!). It got over 2000 votes, which beats out probably any poll I ever did or will do on Twitter.

Lastly, like I mentioned at the top, the most important poll is the one to help decide who’ll get a $50 donation this month. Click the link below please to vote!
