STTNG FTW
Sorry I didn’t post a blog yesterday, it’s been a busy and stressful time both in terms of work and personally.
One good thing is that I’ve finally started doing what I’ve been wanting to do for a long time — watching TV shows unrelated to politics. My wife and I watch shows together pretty often before bed, but there are some things that I love that she doesn’t, like Star Trek.
I loved Star Trek growing up, especially The Next Generation (Captain Picard and the gang). It’s a good combination between deep philosophical and social issues, and some lighthearted silliness, too.
And a related goal of mine has been to spend some more time on Twitter seeking out other topics besides politics. (I promise I did *not* purposely make a pun about “seek out topics” on Twitter and “seek out new life and new civilizations” in the Star Trek intro. But once I realized it, I couldn’t bring myself to edit it out!).
I’ve actually posted in several Twitter threads the past few weeks about Star Trek and have some Trekkies / Trekkers who’ve followed me and vice versa. So it’s been great to do something that I like, and meet or interact with some new people.
So far, I’ve watched 4 episodes of STTNG (Star Trek: The Next Generation) — or 6, if you count two 2-parters separately — and am planning to watch selected episodes from different seasons. I think I’ve seen all of the episodes on first run or reruns, but it’s probably been 20+ years since I saw a full episode.
Here are a few of the threads and posts I’ve been posting in. Are you a Star Trek fan? Are you more of a Star Wars person? Do you dislike both of them, or don’t care either way. Please let me know in the comments below or reply to my tweet about this blog post.
