Taxpayer-funded lie

I’m pissed. Got a letter in the mail which the envelope said was from the IRS, but turned out to be a blatant lie from the current president. Using the power of the Presidency, and taxpayer funds, to spread provenly false propaganda to make himself and the Democrats look better.
This is a bald-faced lie. Biden, Kamala Harris, future Senator Raphael Warnock, and many other Democrats specifically said the Democrats would send “$2000 checks”. Not that they’d cobble together something between Trump’s presidency and Biden’s and it’d end up to be $2000.
The Democrats cannot honestly claim credit for the $600 checks. The Republican-controlled Senate and President Trump passed and signed the $600 checks in December. The Democrat-controlled House could not have passed that stimulus alone, so there would have been no checks.
At the very best, Democrats were a minority member of a partnership — at most, 1/3 responsible for the $600 checks in December.
And several of the clips of direct quotes from Democrats in this mashup below are from *after* the $600 checks had already been passed, when Democrats still (coincidentally?) still had to campaign to win two Senate runoffs. The claim otherwise is revisionist falsehoods.
Are we supposed to believe that when they repeated the mantra of sending out $2000 checks, they meant Trump will send you $600 and we’'ll send the rest?! As Biden would say, Come on, man!
And almost worse than that is that Snopes, who many (including progressives) turn to so they can verify claims and information, is also distorting the truth. The claim that Biden and Dems lied about the $2000 checks is “mostly false”?! They twist themselves into a pretzel trying to explain why. Apparently holding the President accountable for his lies is only Snopes’ job when the GOP is in power.
Every time Biden does something that is good, I find out about several bad or horrible things he or Democrats have done. One step forward, two steps backward. Unless the Squad and progressives actually put up a fight, the best we can hope for is Biden laughing in our faces by lying to millions of Americans about skimping on desperately-needed aid during a pandemic.
