2k followers?! Thank you!!
#WowWednesday
It’s official — I now have over 2,000 followers on Twitter! 🥳
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!
to each and every one of my followers. I’m still amazed that 2,000 people were interested enough by something I wrote on Twitter or my blog (or possibly heard during social breaks on The Young Turks) that they decided to follow my account.
I actually hit 2K last weekend, but didn’t say anything because
I didn’t want to jinx it and have it dip below 2,000. I’m at 2,012 as I’m writing this, so unless something unusual happens (something unusual in the year 2022? Never!) I should stay above 2k.
I was also out of town this weekend, so I didn’t really have any time to think or write a post about it.
Thanks to my followers on Twitter, and especially my TYT Family on Twitter and elsewhere online, I’ve gone from being an extremely shy person to being outgoing and outspoken online, and even more and more in person, too. I’ve gotten to meet and talk with people from around the world, including some well-known people, without going into a full-blown panic attack or pulling a Chris Farley.
A few interesting stats about my Twitter account and the people I’ve met online:
I have followers in 42 different countries — mostly from the US, but also places as far as Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
I’m fortunate to have twice as many people following me compared to last year, from 961 on 7/28/21 to 2,012 followers today.
The tweet that people on Twitter engaged with the most (like, retweet, comment, etc.) was on New Year’s Eve 2020 when I tweeted to celebrate TYT reaching their $2 million fundraising goal on the very last day of the year.
And the tweet that people liked the most (as in, hit the heart to “like” it) was actually a reply to someone else’s tweet having to do religion, when I jokingly defended Jesus.
There are so many great people who are mutual followers that it feels like I’ve known all my life, and others who I’ve just followed and am still getting to know, that it’d be hard to thank people without leaving someone out… But I am keeping up the #FollowFriday threads to give a shoutout to new followers, and have done Twitter circles a couple times now to help thank and boost some of the people who put up with me who I interact with the most on Twitter.
And once my life settles down more again, I’m hoping to get back up and running with my monthly donation polls (thanks to all who’ve voted in these and helped some great organizations!) and with having occasional guest bloggers as well, both of these were popular and helped me connect with more people online.
And if you’re a new follower or new to the blog, you can also explore the links at the top to read past blog posts and other random odds and ends — you might even say it’s eclectic!
Time to stop writing and get back on Twitter! 😀 Thanks again everyone!!
