Large French strike largely ignored by US media

France had a giant, nationwide strike today which got little coverage in the US media. I think it’s inspiring that in 2023, there are still mass movements like this that can be successful. I think US labor, as well as workers, could learn a lot from this. Which is probably part of the reason why corporate media chose not to give a massive social movement in a close ally hardly any coverage — certainly not prominent coverage on their websites. Here’s my tweet thread with what I saw (and didn’t see) on several major US news websites.

I'm not surprised that massive strikes across industries to protect France's retirement system are at best a footnote in US media.
