Donate your time or cash to these progressive-friendly causes
Thank you to everyone who participated in 2021’s $50 monthly donation polls! Based on votes from site visitors and people following me on Twitter, I donated over $600 to 15 organizations, candidates, and causes.
Please check out the links below to find out more about these progressive-friendly orgs and consider donating some of your time or money. I will periodically add others here.
You can read below to find out who won in previous months and if you’d like to, you can donate your time or money to one of these worthy causes as well!
Jeff Waldorf’s Around the Nation was the top vote-getter for January and received a $50 donation. Jacobin Magazine got the $50 donation for February. Nina Turner’s campaign got $50 in March.
Richard Wolff’s Economic Update and Doctors Without Borders split the $50 donation in April. The Young Turks/TYT Network won in May and the ACLU in June.
Democracy Now and FFRF split the $50 for July, and Wolf-PAC won for August. Planned Parenthood received a $50 donation thanks to your votes in September.
The Sunrise Movement received the $50 donation for October, and the $50 donation to RIP Medical Debt for November will go towards erasing $5000 in medical debt (as explained here). The last winner of 2021 was the National Low Income Housing Coalition.
For January 2022, there was a three-way tie between Cori Bush 2022, Midsouth Food Pantry, and Justice Democrats, so they each received a $20 donation.

You can also check out the organizations and causes below that you can become a member of and/or donate to.
Have other organizations to suggest or other comments on these? DM me on Twitter and let me know!
The Young Turks
The longest-running, most-viewed online news show on the planet. Find out more or become a member to support independent media and get additional content here.
TYT Army
The volunteer branch of TYT that calls out media bias and anti-progressive propaganda.
There are five different task forces you can choose from to hold the mainstream media and corporate politicians accountable.
Justice Democrats
The establishment laughed at the idea of progressives forming a coalition that accepts no corporate PAC money and fights for principles like Medicare For All and a Green New Deal. Justice Democrats recruited AOC, who not only beat a high-ranking Democrat but with the Squad have become the best-known members of the House. JD has launched their 2022 Candidate Recruitment drive to bring more progressive voices into government. You can support them here.
Médecins sans frontières / Doctors Without Borders
An independent, impartial international organization devoted to giving aid where it’s most needed. 85% of donations go directly to funding relief programs, and only 1% to management costs, which is a better ratio of aid going to relief than most other similar organizations (Red Cross, etc.). Current relief campaigns are focusing on covid response, the migration crisis in the US and abroad, and the Rohingya refugee crisis, among others. Find out more info or donate here.
Freedom from Religion Foundation
Many establishment politicians on the Right (and some on the Left) are trying to erode the separation of State and Church guaranteed by the first amendement. FFRF fights to keep taxpayer money from funding tax-exempt religious institutions who often take stands contrary to progressive values (such as discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community, teaching creationism in schools, and attacking atheists just for their (non-) belief). Cenk Uygur, host of TYT, is one of many who’ve received the Emperor Has No Clothes award from FFRF. Find out more here.
