You picked Wolf-PAC for the $50 donation!
Thank you to everyone who voted in the poll for August’s $50 donation from eclecticmisc.org. The voters have spoken, and the winner is (drum roll please…) Wolf-PAC!
Wolf-PAC (wolf-pac.com) is a people-powered political action committee that’s working to get dark money out of politics and the corruption that results from it.
Two important notes before I continue:
Unlike most previous donation recipients, Wolf-PAC is NOT a progressive organization. It’s non-partisan and includes liberals and conservatives. This makes sense, since a majority of voters on both sides of the aisle want big money out of politics.
I’m a Wolf-PAC volunteer, but my comments are my own and don’t represent Wolf-PAC.
Wolf-PAC has been changing the conversation about the crisis of our current campaign finance system — which gives deep-pocketed special interests and billionaire donors a leg up on the rest of us — and has also been successful convincing state legislators to support a limited Article V convention to address campaign finance.
Here’s Wolf-PAC in their own words:
Wolf-PAC was founded in 2011 with one goal: to get an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that will reverse the damage that has been done by the U.S. Supreme Court around campaign finance reform.
The solution to this problem is an Amendment because the U.S. Constitution is the only authority above the Supreme Court. Anything less is a bandaid, and we refuse to leave this growing problem to future generations. — Wolf-PAC’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WolfPAChq/
Pundits both on the left and right said that Wolf-PAC wouldn’t be able to find states to go along with calling for an Article V convention. They were wrong; they already have five States and counting on their way to 34 (which is the 2/3rds of States needed).
Some organizations who say they’re trying to take dark money out of politics and/or say they want to overturn Citizens United have argued against the legitimacy of having an Article V convention, even though it’s a solution enshrined in our Constitution as one of two ways to amend the Constitution — this one arguably coming from the people more closely.
I’m proud to be a volunteer and happy that blog readers chose Wolf-PAC for August’s $50 donation. Receipts (literally!) are below for the donation and the poll results. I’ll be announcing the poll for September’s $50 donation later this week, so please come back here or to my Twitter account.
If you believe in representative democracy, and making sure the people’s voices are heard above mega donors’, you should consider supporting Wolf-PAC. I’m a member and have been an active volunteer for a few months now. I really enjoy it, it’s a very active and supportive organization, and they make sure to include everyone and make sure their voices are heard (which I guess makes sense, since their goal is to make sure voters’ voices are heard!).
There are a wide variety of different volunteer options both on a state and national level, in person or online. You can volunteer, make a one-time donation, or become a member at https://wolf-pac.com/.

Which cause, organization, or show will you pick for September? Come back later this week or follow me on Twitter to find out as soon as the next poll opens up; I post on my blog Monday through Friday.
