The Daily Poster: reader-powered news

On Thursdays I try to feature a new progressive site, organization, etc. that either I’ve just started getting into, or that I support and want people to know about

Today it’s the Daily Poster, the new reader-supported news site founded by David Sirota. If you’re reading this you probably know already who Sirota is: former senior advisor and speechwriter for Bernie Sanders during his 2020 campaign; editor at Jacobin; columnist for the Guardian; former TYT contributor; favorite target of establishment Dems when they want to take a break from bashing Briahna Joy Gray…

But you may not know what The Daily Poster is. Founded by Sirota, It’s a subscriber-supported news site (with the tagline “All the news that’s fit to post”) covering politics, business, and the corrupting influence of the latter on the former.

In its short existence, it’s broken several big stories, including most recently Denny’s execs admitting that a $15/hr minimum wage wouldn’t hurt the company. You probably heard about this but may not have heard that it came from The Daily Poster, or that The Daily Poster was founded by Sirota.

They were also instrumental in uncovering the extent to which the Cuomo administration’s COVID corporate immunity law negatively impacted the nursing home crisis in New York—reporting which helped expose the issue and led to repealing that law.

Every day there’s something from The Daily Poster that’s a must-read. Not to mention extras for paid subscribers like live events (most recently a subscriber Q and A with Nina Turner), a weekly podcast, midweek and weekend roundups of the news, and more.

You should definitely check it out, especially since most of the content is free. If you decide you like it and want to support independent journalism, you can subscribe for $8 a month or $70 a year (it’s also possible I get a need-based discount, which is great that they offer—I know one person who did this). Pretty often they also have a discount on subscriptions if you catch a post for it on Twitter.

In my opinion, The Daily Poster is the type of journalism we need to break through corporate owned and funded media, and I’m happy to support it.
