Hope those who celebrate Father’s Day had a good one — no matter how you define yourself as a father!

My daughter got me a compost tumbler for Father's Day — well, actually she made me a card saying I can pick out the one I like best. I don’t know much about composting, but that’s about to change. Here’s the example compost tumbler her mom and she showed me to give me an idea. I’ll need to look more into it to get an idea of the best balance between quality and price.

Fun fact: A tumbler is not just a thermos-like type of cup!

I know nearly nothing about composting, so any advice about tumblers would be greatly appreciated!

My daughter’s very interested in the environment, and she knows I am, too, so this was a great gift idea for something she and I can do together! Even though she’s only eight, she’s gotten good at coming up with great ideas for gifts for people she knows. I wish I were as good at it!

This is my Monday Motivation today because it gives me hope that she and a lot of kids around her age want to help with the environment. Often more than their parents or other adults in their lives do, even though in theory the grown-ups should understand what’s at stake better than kids can.

Climate change is here, and I think my daughter’s really starting to get that. I just hope that until my daughter and her generation can take the action we need to salvage our climate, we adults actually get our act together to leave them the best planet we still can.
