Should Biden have called Doocy an SOB?
The most recent story from Washington that doesn’t really have anything to do with substance — so of course the mainstream media are joyously covering it — is Joe Biden calling Peter Doocy a “stupid son of a bitch.”
I have one argument against him doing it, and several for him doing it.
CON: I’ve always hated the expression “son of a bitch.” A man acts like an asshole, so you blame his mom? This is still a thing in 2021? ❌
But I don’t think people usually interpret or even mean the expression that way. So let’s expand it to the underlying point in this context: should Biden yell at and insult reporters?
PRO: Peter Doocy is a star of a network that incessantly lies, is largely responsible for George W. Bush and Trump getting elected, and has brainwashed people not to get vaccinated or masked during a pandemic that has killed over 800,000 people in the US alone. Doocy himself sometimes asks a legitimate question, but often asks biased questions that are sometimes based on false premises or complete inaccuracies. ✅
PRO: It’s about time Biden started insulting people who have actual power instead of voters. While he’s at it, he should start publicly insulting Manchin and Sinema to actually support his agenda and Build Back Better provisions that are supported by large majorities of Americans ✅
PRO: Civility doesn’t matter. As usual, Washington and the media are obsessed with civility. If you want something to get done (it’s maybe a big “if” when it comes to Joe “nothing will fundamentally change” Biden), then start calling out people who are telling lies about your administration and the pandemic, and correct the record. Start attacking your colleagues for publicly defying you and siding with corporate interests over the American people. Go on offense. Fight for your agenda.
My plea to Biden: Get mad, swear if you want to, and then actually DO something about it.
