Wherefore art thou, Eclectic?

I haven’t been online much in the past month. Or the past few months actually, come to think of it. But I’m finally back and will be doing this blog regularly again.

Nothing like a 35-year-old Poltergeist II reference to get things started!

It’s been quite a ride for me since last September. A 5-day hospital stay, getting covid, losing power for 6 days in a winter storm, and several other work and personal craziness I won’t bore you with the details of. Dealing with all of this, plus bipolar, plus a possible prelude to World War III in the news, got to be a little too much.

I’ve still been watching The Young Turks or catching the recording afterwards, and watching TYT Network shows, although less often than before. I’ve still been volunteering online (TYT Army, etc.). So I haven’t completely disappeared, but just about everything else I used to do online, I’ve stopped doing or cut down drastically. Including this blog.

But enough is enough. Some positive interactions I’ve had recently online, and people asking where I’ve been, have inspired me to make the effort to get back to doing more of what I love doing online.

A few tweets from @derekquick81 and @theemodragon, getting to meet Jayar Jackson online and him actually knowing who Eclectic Miscellanea was, and a very kind shoutout from Ana Kasparian out of the blue on Wednesday’s TYT main show made me determined to get back online more regularly.

My TYT family is an important part of my life. And as much of a cesspool Twitter can be, I miss interacting with all of the good people on there who I follow or who are “moots”, as the younguns say. I’m doing important volunteer work for TYT Army and want to get back to volunteering with Wolf-PAC. There are people online who know who I am, who care about me, and who like what I have to say, or at least Eclectic.

Which is what the title of this blog post refers to. Fun fact: “Wherefore art thou?” in olden English actually meant “Why do you exist?” Which you may have already known, but if not now you do! So why do I have my Eclectic Miscellanea accounts, watch and comment on shows online, and do this blog?

I’m online to meet other progressives, share what I think, and maybe along the way possibly make a little bit of a difference by volunteering and supporting courses. This is all important enough for me to make time to get back online, and it’s something I very much enjoy.

A funny comic I found when looking for a graphic explaining the meaning of Wherefore, haha.

So…I’m ba-ack! Thank you to everyone who’s reading this and who’s been trying to keep up with me on Twitter. Looking forward to seeing everyone again, and I’ll try not to be gone as long if I do need a breather in the future.
