Help decide which candidate will get a $50 donation

Since I launched this blog in January 2021, there’s been a poll every month where you, the readers, decide which progressive-friendly cause or organization will get a $50 donation. You can see the list of winners here that received $50 (or winners if there was a tie).

For the next few months, leading up to the 2022 primaries and midterms, I’ve decided on a theme for the donation polls: candidates and electoral politics. And this month’s poll will for the first time end before the end of the month — Fri, Feb. 25 at 11:59pm Eastern, to help get donations to the first winner as fast as possible.

My opinion (based on commentary in progressive media, and even a good amount of mainstream media) is that there’s a good chance that Democrats will lose either the House, the Senate, or both.

But even if that happens, we can limit the damage by getting as many progressive politicians as we can into Washington. Cori Bush almost single-handedly moved the needle on the eviction moratorium expiring and helped save millions from suddenly being kicked out on the street. If we can get another fighter for the people (or many!) in there, it can make a difference.

Here are the choices for this month. Please vote and spread the word, not just about the poll but also these and other progressive candidates. Especially in the primaries, they need all the support we can get — donating our time, our money, and getting the word out there.

  • Rana Abdelhamid (NY-12), primary on June 28

  • Greg Casar (TX-35), primary on March 1

  • Jessica Cisneros (TX-28), primary on March 1

  • Kina Collins (IL-07), primary on June 28

  • Morgan Harper (OH), primary on May 3

  • Odessa Kelly (TN-05), primary on August 2

Please note that there are NOT the only progressive candidates running, and there are other important races, but this seemed like a good start for this month’s poll. If there’s another candidate that’s not in the choices, please suggest one in the comments of the poll or here.

Please vote in the poll today — it takes less than a minute according to Survey Monkey!
