Pelosi texting me? The GOP saying I’m a “member”? What should I do?!
Yesterday I got a text message from “Mama Bear” Pelosi herself, with her picture and some bla-bla-bla asking for donations. I joked about her picture scaring me on Twitter, but it actually did surprise me.
I don’t remember getting a political solicitation text before that had a photo. I get tons of emails like that, but not as a text message. It sounds like a lot of other people got the same one too based on the replies to my tweet. But that’s not the only “scary” political message I got recently.

It reminded me that not that long ago, I got an email informing me that I’m a member of the Tennessee Republican Party. Wait—what? My guess is I get on these lists because I sign online petitions and the corporate and/or fascist politicians that the petitions are sent to must put me on their lists.

I usually ignore political spam or click to unsubscribe. Some people who replied to my Pelosi tweet took a more vocal approach. 😀
But this one concerned me because it says I’m a “Fellow Republican” and says “Thanks for Joining!” I don’t want to be counted as a Republican in Tennessee’s official membership, or be associated with the Republican Party in any way.
In addition to hating pretty much everything they stand for and have done, there are some questions like, would this affect what ballot I can get when I go vote? If I’m ever asked “Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Republican Party?” can I still say Hell, no!
I kind of thought it could be fun to see what the crazies at the GOP were telling their base, but now I’m leaning more towards unsubscribing and making sure they take me off of whatever official list of Republicans they may have put me on.
