Herschel Walker — the only insane choice
Georgia’s runoff election ends tonight. And I’m about to say something that I don’t say often or lightly, as someone who has bipolar disease and who is incredibly frustrated that Kanye’s — ahem, Ye’s — fascist antics have probably set back the issue of mental health advocacy for years.
Herschel Walker is insane. No one in their right mind, and probably very few people aren’t in their right mind, thinks that he is qualified or mentally fit to be a US Senator. And if he wins the election tonight, or if it’s even close, then I may lose whatever little faith I have left in our democracy.
If Walker pulls off a victory, or in my opinion him coming even close to one, would show that Republican voters either can’t see past their perceived self-interests, GOP propaganda, and/or both-sidesing it media (was he a police officer or not? who are we to say?) to see a Walker for what he really is — a deeply dishonest man who compulsively lies about the craziest things, knows nothing about what is going on in Georgia (much less the rest of the world), and treats the women and children in his life like shit.
He has said and done so much outrageous crap that it’s hard to keep track, but this article has several of the most egregious ones, including
he has extensive experience in law enforcement, including training at Quantico. (but he has a toy badge!)
he graduated from the top 1 percent of his class from the University of Georgia
he claimed he didn’t have, and now claims he never said he didn’t have, children with women from other relationships who he essentially abandoned
he claims to have founded one charity and given about 15% of his business profits to another charity.
This is not even mentioning his inability to answer basic policy questions coherently.
The only sane choice is not to vote for him. Any anti-Democrat Republicans hopefully either voted for Warnock, or if they couldn’t bring yourself to do that, then at least stay home. A win or good showing by Walker after all this has come out means we are a nation so divided that about half of voters in Georgia would rather see a lying, immoral, mentally unfit madman in the Senate than someone who disagrees with them politically. Which bodes badly for the 2024 presidential elections, which Trump is already campaigning for…
